Dance Tech Academy Half time Performance Schedule

The following classes will be performing at area high school basketball game half times in December, January, and February. When performing at these basketball game half times the dancers get in free, however parents and other observers must pay even if only there to watch the half time. Performers need to arrive with costumes on and their hair and make-up done, 15 minutes BEFORE the game BEGINS.

This will allow about 45 minutes for us to warm-up and rehearse before the actual half time performance. It is not fair to those who make an effort to be on time and want to look good, so there will be a large deduction of points and the dancer may not be allowed to perform if they haven’t had proper warm-up time.

We love to see our dancers perform and we believe it is a rewarding experience for them.

Rockin’ around the Christmas tree wasn’t just for fun last weekend.

For Dance Tech Academy in Idaho Falls, the dancers were able sharing their talents in a way that benefited the community, at its annual Christmas Benefit Concert at Hillcrest High School auditorium, Saturday, Dec. 11. The concert is held to raise food for the Idaho Food Bank and donations to local organizations. The recital was a two act performance of dancers novice to advanced, featuring original choreographed dances in ballets, jazz, contemporary/modern and hip hop. Z103′s Brad Collins emceed the event where families were able to see their children perform, many of them for the first time.

Studio director, Lori Webb Allred, who has hosted the annual event for two decades, said she was very proud of the turn out at the concert. “When you are a part of a community as talented and as giving as ours is, it’s a wonderful feeling to see that come to life. We were very pleased with all of the dancer’s performances, and we are so appreciative for the support of everyone who came to enjoy the concert and donated to these causes. It’s just the best feeling to see it all come together, and especially knowing that it ends up helping so many families.”

Prior concerts have fetched proceeds in the thousands of dollars for various local organizations. Last year, the Idaho Food Bank and the Domestic Violence Intervention Center were recipients.  Allred and others affiliated with the studio spend countless hours planning for the event each year, and said she wants to recognize all of the tremendous effort that they put in.

Concert attendees donated over 900 canned food items, which went to the Idaho Food Bank.  Admission fees for entrance into the concert and donated monies raised at the concert went to Help, Inc., a child abuse prevention center and the performing arts. An exact total of food and monetary donations is still being calculated.

Dance Tech has held performances at the festival for over a decade and is pleased to be involved in such a great event that benefits the community.

We have had the best time at our class Halloween parties in dance this week.    We played games, had treats and loved every minute of holiday fun. Fall 2011 BBQ

Enter the world of razor-sharp dancing, video effects, electronic rhythms, and beautiful melodies with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, set to the music of Radiohead and choreography of Edward Clug.

In a rare U.S. engagement, this powerfully gorgeous contemporary ballet from Eastern Europe gives new twist to this timeless tale of conflict, fate, and love. The rhythmic power of Radiohead’s dynamic compositions propels the dancers to new emotional heights in this West Coast Premiere. There will also be a Masterclass for advanced dancers (ages 12 to adults) on Monday, October 17 from 7-9:00 pm at the DANCE TECH ACADEMY. Participation is $25 and space is limited.

Following their enormously successful performances at Pittsburgh ’s International Festival of Firsts in October 2008 and Jacob’s Pillow in July of 2009, Ballet Maribor has embarked on a nationwide US tour in October 2011 with their groundbreaking production, Radio and Juliet

Choreographer Edward Clug translates the world’s greatest love story, boldly expressed against the epic work of the alternative rock ban Radiohead. Ballet Maribor ’s Radio and Juliet interprets the delicacy of love with the cold hand of mechanization in the modern world. Radiohead’s music coupled with the expressive mix of Ballet Maribor’s signature minimalist forms, intensifies feelings of desperation, alienation and loneliness, creating an atmosphere of aggression, and the accelerating passage of time.

Radio and Juliet was created in 2005 at Maribor ’s Opera and Ballet House. The ballet has toured around the world to countries such as Belgium , Greece , Croatia , Portugal , Italy , Serbia , France , Netherlands , Israel , Singapore , and the USA .
