The rehearsal times for Wednesday production and other classes are as follows:

DT Company- Group 2 (The Funeral) – 4:30-5:15
DT Minis – 4:00-5:15 and Int. Pre-Team – 4:15-5:15
EVERYONE PRODUCTION – 5:15-6:15
DT Company Groups 1, 3, & 4 (You Belong to Me, That’s Who You Are, Six in Search) – 6:15-7:15

We will probably keep this Wednesday schedule through competition season, but we will let you know if we need to change anything.

Reminder: the next Saturday Production rehearsal is Feb. 25 at 9:30-noon. Then on Mar. 10 we are rehearsing all the dances from 9:30-2:00. (we will give them a lunch break).

Keep in mind, you perform at the level you practice and practice makes perfect. 

The East Idaho Dance Showcase performance is Saturday, Feb. 11th at Shelley High School. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. We are excited for this opportunity to show other area dance schools our routines and be able to watch theirs! Admission for adults is $5 for kids 4-17 yr. is $3 and a family ticket for immediate family only will be available this year for $20. Doors will open 12:30 p.m. All of our performances are odd numbers and will be facing the odd side of the gym, so be sure to look for the odd signs and sit on the correct side.

Come support our dancers! Wear your DTA warm-ups and cheer them on!

Performers need to use the locker rooms for changing costumes in. Locker rooms are assigned – just look for the signs. Boys will need to use the restrooms for costume changes. Please use performance etiquette such as waiting to walk across the gym between performances and showing positive encouragement towards other dancers. Please keep the Shelley High School clean, so that we may have the priviledge of coming back again.
The call times are when your performer needs to be there to warm up and practice with their team about 45 minutes before they perform.

Dance Tech Academy Half time Performance Schedule

The following classes will be performing at area high school basketball game half times in December, January, and February. When performing at these basketball game half times the dancers get in free, however parents and other observers must pay even if only there to watch the half time. Performers need to arrive with costumes on and their hair and make-up done, 15 minutes BEFORE the game BEGINS.

This will allow about 45 minutes for us to warm-up and rehearse before the actual half time performance. It is not fair to those who make an effort to be on time and want to look good, so there will be a large deduction of points and the dancer may not be allowed to perform if they haven’t had proper warm-up time.

We love to see our dancers perform and we believe it is a rewarding experience for them.

Rockin’ around the Christmas tree wasn’t just for fun last weekend.

For Dance Tech Academy in Idaho Falls, the dancers were able sharing their talents in a way that benefited the community, at its annual Christmas Benefit Concert at Hillcrest High School auditorium, Saturday, Dec. 11. The concert is held to raise food for the Idaho Food Bank and donations to local organizations. The recital was a two act performance of dancers novice to advanced, featuring original choreographed dances in ballets, jazz, contemporary/modern and hip hop. Z103′s Brad Collins emceed the event where families were able to see their children perform, many of them for the first time.

DT Elite member Faith Borland performs a solo ballet at the Dance Tech Academy Benefit Concert Dec. 11.

Studio director, Lori Webb Allred, who has hosted the annual event for two decades, said she was very proud of the turn out at the concert. “When you are a part of a community as talented and as giving as ours is, it’s a wonderful feeling to see that come to life. We were very pleased with all of the dancer’s performances, and we are so appreciative for the support of everyone who came to enjoy the concert and donated to these causes. It’s just the best feeling to see it all come together, and especially knowing that it ends up helping so many families.”

Prior concerts have fetched proceeds in the thousands of dollars for various local organizations. Last year, the Idaho Food Bank and the Domestic Violence Intervention Center were recipients.  Allred and others affiliated with the studio spend countless hours planning for the event each year, and said she wants to recognize all of the tremendous effort that they put in.

Concert attendees donated over 900 canned food items, which went to the Idaho Food Bank.  Admission fees for entrance into the concert and donated monies raised at the concert went to Help, Inc., a child abuse prevention center and the performing arts. An exact total of food and monetary donations is still being calculated.
